More than just a place to study

It’s true — don’t judge a book by its cover. 麦金太尔库 is much more than a place to find books and articles, or a quiet study space. The six floors of McIntyre provide spacious and diverse places to study, research and yes, socialize. Technology helps provide information to students and faculty wherever they are and whenever they need it. It’s often not necessary to come into the library to do research — many library resources are available online. 然而, the library will always be a place where students gather, 交流思想, and find help with difficult research questions.

Along with all the hard work that takes place in the library, it's equally important to know that this is 你的 place for relaxing, socializing, and yes even 有趣的. Each fall there is an After Hours game and 有趣的 night in McIntyre, during finals weeks we bring in therapy dogs and other stress-reducing options, and Chancellor Jim even flips pancakes for students every year as part of finals week.

在研究方面有很多帮助

Many first-year students begin their college careers more than a little nervous about college-level research. If you share those fears, we’ve got the program for you. 麦金太尔库 staff offer a research instruction program aimed at helping new students tackle those worries and succeed in early research projects and assignments.

每年, 平均5分,500 students attend library research class sessions, and library staff attend to student research needs and questions in one-to-one settings about 3400 times each year. That’s a LOT of available help in making sure that 你的 student research endeavors are successful.

Students can find assistance in the Research Center on a drop-in basis while classes are in session, and also have the option to schedule a session with library staff both during the semester or between course sessions.
